Christmas 2008 gave us our first White Christmas since moving to Vancouver. We had record snow totals and it snowed on Christmas day.

Snow & Freezing Rain in Vancouver

We had a rare winter storm that hit the Vancouver / Portland area. We had 6 inches of snow that hit on Saturday and then freezing rain that turned into a half of inch of ice covering the snow. That half inch of ice also coated our van completely. It took 45 minutes to get the ice off. You can see some of the branches and trees in our back yard being weighted down by the ice. Sunday we had an additional 2 inches of snow that fell on top of the ice and snow. With more freezing rain and snow in the forecast, we could possibly get several more layers of ice and snow before Christmas.
